Your tests stay Playwright, Selenium and pytest. We don't replace them. We make them enterprise-ready, and you own everything: code, evidence and history.

Open-source licenses

Last updated 2026-10-05 · what Nexus Studio is built on, and under which licenses

Nexus Studio drives real browsers with Playwright and Selenium, the two standard open-source automation engines, and is built with other open-source software. Each component stays under its own license, and nothing in the Nexus Studio license limits your rights under those licenses. The complete list, with every license text and NOTICE file, is the third-party notices file, generated from our lockfiles for each release.

The browsers are not in our download

Chromium, Firefox and WebKit are not part of the Nexus Studio installer. When a workspace first needs them, Playwright downloads them from Microsoft's servers, and they come under their own licenses: Chromium under the BSD license and others, Firefox under the Mozilla Public License 2.0, WebKit under the LGPL and BSD licenses.

LGPL source code

libvips-42.dll is a separate, dynamically linked library, unmodified, so you can replace it with your own build. It is built by github.com/lovell/sharp-libvips. It contains libvips 8.18.6 and the libraries libvips uses. Among them, glib, pango, librsvg, libheif, fribidi, libexif and proxy-libintl are under the LGPL-3.0, and cairo, libpng, libtiff, mozjpeg, libwebp, freetype, harfbuzz and others are under their own licenses. The notices file lists each one with its license text. This software is based in part on the work of the Independent JPEG Group. For three years after we distribute a version, we will send you, on request, the exact source of the libvips build in it, including every LGPL library above, at no charge beyond the cost of sending it.
